Food as Medicine: Chia & Black Sesame

Chia seeds and black sesame seeds are excellent sources of nutrition and may be combined in delicious recipes. Chia seeds are not only an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, they also have a high concentration of dietary fiber and antioxidants. They may reduce cholesterol levels, lower high blood pressure, prevent inflammation, and increase satiety. Another nutritious seed you may include in your diet are black sesame seeds. Black sesame seeds are a great source of calcium, protein, and antioxidants. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, black sesame seeds help with replenishing blood and moisten the intestines which in turn promotes regular bowel movements.
