Acupuncture is used to alleviate a variety of symptoms and conditions related to cancer as well as side-effects from cancer treatment. A common condition acupuncture helps manage is cancer pain. Acupuncture is considered both safe and effective for cancer pain. A clinical trial led by Memorial Sloan Kettering showed the efficacy of acupuncture for cancer pain after 12 weeks of treatment. Participants reported a decrease in pain severity months after treatments were discontinued. Acupuncture not only helps with managing cancer pain, but can also help with alleviating post-operative pain as well as improve quality of life.
