Acupuncture for Hot Flashes

Hot flashes are a common symptom. Acupuncture is an effective therapy for treating hot flashes for postmenopausal women as well as cancer patients and survivors. Randomized controlled trials have shown a reduction in the number of hot flashes that participants experienced within several weeks of treatment. The majority of studies report more than 50% reduction of hot flashes in breast cancer patients after a course of acupuncture treatments.

In more studies:

  • Acupuncture reduced hot flashes and night sweats significantly

  • Acupuncture reduced hot flashes, day and night sweats, general sweating, sleep problems related to hot flashes, and emotional symptoms

  • Benefits from acupuncture lasted for over six months
